Today I went boating (kayaking to be specific) on the Snake River with my mom. We started at the Jackson Lake dam where the river starts, and went down to the Pacific creek takeout. We got to the Oxbow (a calm area of water with islands everywhere) and decided to look around the islands and streams that run through it. We say a bunch of baby mergansers, and two Bald Eagles with two immature (not babies, but not adults) Bald Eagles eating what we thought was an elk carcass. We also saw two other immature eagles along the way sitting in trees. About twelve pelicans were gathered in a clearing with other small birds, and they looked very elegant. There were geese (along with there poop) everywhere. While we were exiting the Oxbow I had a Muskrat (a small rodent that swims and looks like a beaver but is much smaller and has a rat tail) come out of it's den. It swam right up to my boat and bumped it as it dove under and proceeded to the other side. After that we paddled down to the take out and my mom biked back to the put-in, got the car and drove it back. As we drove home my mom was paranoid that the pink kayak was going to fall off because it was moving a little in the wind. Even after stopping and tightening the straps three times, she still thought it was going to fall (it didn't). At 5:30 I refereed some more and made some more money. THE END
Get Outside
