Isn't it amazing there are only 2 years left until the apocalypse. Sorry I'm getting off track. I last posted on this blog over 6 months ago. At that time school was still in and I was on the Roller Coaster called life. A lot has changed since then, I am now a sophomore (thank god), I picked up the sport lacrosse. It's good to not be on the bottom of the food chain anymore in high school. l love playing lacrosse, I play goalie and I love it just as much as I love my school. Yesterday I went for a 50-mile bike ride around Grand Teton National Park, and Tomorrow I will be headed off again for a 4 day trip up and over Beartooth pass and back. We're going with the nordic team which is kind of strange but it will be tons of fun. A week ago I FINALLY got an iPhone 4. I love it, it is so cool and I'm gracious to my mother for paying for it. I have to go pack, but hopefully I will post here again before the year is over.

Have Fun Out There
Sawyer :)

Long Time No See

Wow!!! I haven't posted on this thing for a while. School is now in full swing, and homework has taken up a lot o my time. I have decided to do the high school nordic team this year, and it is going to be really fun. I am going to west yellowstone for thanksgiving again this year, but instead of going with my family I am going with the team. In order for that to happen though, WE NEED SNOW. It's getting a little late in the year to not have snow, and I don't want it to be like last year where we have to cancel because there isn't enough snow. Anyways, that will be fun, and downhill this year is going to be fun. I hope we get a lot of powder. Other than that, not a lot is happening in my life right now. I really like my school still as I'm sure you could have guessed. Hope everyone has a good season, and there is lots of snow.

Please Snow
Sawyer : )

Lovin It

School is now in full swing, and I love it. This school seems to be the perfect fit for me. I love the small environment and the way the school is run. I know the work is going to get a little harder, but it defiantly isn't as bad as I thought, and I know I can do it even if I am overwhelmed at times. Everything is perfect for me in my learning and social world. I just can't say enough how perfect it is and although it may not be that good for other people I love it and intend to stay there all through high school. It is a lot better than I imagined, and I am glad I made the right choice. If you want to go there the Open House for incoming freshman is on October 6th, be there. Enough about that. Soccer is also now full on again, and we just had our first tournament this weekend. I am playing on a club team, but it is all high schoolers. We went to casper and split into two teams. Our team is all freshman and we were competing against seniors so it is really hard. Out of the four games that we played we won one. Overall this weekend I think personally I played really well and the same goes for our team. Now that school has started not a lot exciting or out of the ordinary is happening, so not a lot to talk about.

Peace out.

Sawyer }=)

Fishing the Snake

For the past three days, my friends, Eric and Connor, and I have been together and slept over at each others houses. It was really fun, we compared our new computers (they are exactly the same) and talked about our new school. Yesterday we went fishing out at the Snake River (a HUGE river that runs by my house about half a mile away). Unfortunately we didn't catch anything, not even a bite. We had fun swimming though. We would walk up the river about 100 yards, and get in the river. The current was really strong so it carried us down the river and when we got to our little fishing hole we got out. It was really fun, and cold. When we got back and got warm, we decided to try fishing in the ditch that runs by 20 feet from my house. We have a bridge that crosses the creek and we sat on that with a hook and worm in the water. The water is really clear and it is only about 5 feet deep, so we could so the fish at the bottom. We had many bites, and managed to get two fish. One was about 2 inches, a sad excuse for a fish, but the other was at least 6 inches maybe more. It was fun, and then we say a huge fish and throughout the next two days we made it our goal to catch that fish. We didn't. But we got it out of the water at one point before the line broke (thats how big it was). Now we can look down and see the fish sitting at the bottom (still alive) with that hook and weight trailing from its mouth. When we went that night Eric dropped a flashlight in the water. We could see it glowing at the bottom, in the mud, and sent Eric in after it. Nude. After that funny episode we went inside and watched a movie, before going to bed at 1:00. We got up and they went home, and that concluded my exciting weekend. Monday night, we went to dinner with some friends, and when I walked out of the restaurant my iPod Touch's screen at cracked (THAT SUCKS). Anyways, now they are telling me to fix my week old iPod I need to give them $149. I really wish I hadn't of broken it. Tomorrow school starts, and the summer is over. It seems like it went fast this time. I guess its time, I just finished my summer essay, and now I am starting to get bored. I'll try to post once a week for the people that don''t read this. Really does anybody read this, just asking. If so comment.

Back To School

Sawyer =|

Welcome to Cyberspace

Yes!!! Finally. I have been waiting all week for this and finally it is here. My new school requires that every student has a laptop (which I am typing on now) for work. Mine finally got here today, and I am so excited. I also got a deal, where it came with a free iPod Touch. What a deal. Of course it is a mac (who would buy anything else). A Mac Book Pro 13-inch to be exact. I am really excited, and the iPod is cool too because my other nano broke. You may be bored out of your mind from reading this and yelling i don't care because I am only talking about myself, but thats ok, because I just got a new iPod and laptop.

Looking at new Features (man there are a lot)

Sawyer =0

I'm on a Boat

My dad and I just got back from a week long (2 if you count driving) trip to Northern Minnesota. We went canoeing in the boundary waters with a few of my fellow boy scouts. It was really fun, and although I don't really feel like going into great depth with the story, I will summarize the main points for you. We rented a van to hold the 10 of us on the long, dreary, 2-day drive to Ely, Minnesota. When we got there, we spent the night in some small little cabins on base, and set off in the morning. That is when we really got to know our interpreter, Mike. He is a junior at Notre Dame, and an avid trumpet player. Essentially, we got up every morning at 7:00, to cook breakfast and pack up. We then paddled until 4:00, when we then set up camp again, and cooked dinner, and swam. It may sound repetitive, but trust me it was really fun, and it was a great experience for everyone. We even got our 75 miler award in 5 days! This was Mike's last trip, ever. He has been a guide up there for the past three years, and this was his last one. (I'm crying inside) After it was all done, we packed up and headed for home, but not before we saw the world's largest Holstein cow, and other odd items. Finally we came back to reality with school starting in only a week, and worked on Trever's Eagle project. He built an elevated garden so that handicapped people can enjoy gardening too. Thats all for now, if you want more detail, comment.

Back to Reality

Sawyer =(

New School, New Work

This fall I will be entering High School at a private school. I am going to be going to the Jackson Hole Community School, across the street from the high school. It is going to be a challenge for me, but it is a challenge I took upon myself, and hope to succeed in. There is going to be more work, and less free time, but in the end I will come out a better person, and one that can better help the world. Our first assignment was sent out at the beginning of the summer, and is a three page essay. First we had to read a book, called Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie, and then we had to write a three page essay. Mine is about how through out the story, the author brings up differences in the two groups of people, and how in the end they all sort it out, just like in today's day and age, some people are scared and feel threatened by people, or things that are different then them and thus segregate and put down those other people. I don't know why people do this, but it just makes me mad to see innocent people hurt, physically and emotionally, over nothing. Anyways, the new school is going to be a fun adventure, and I am looking forward to starting on September 3rd.

Back to School

Sawyer >=)

P.S.

I might not post as much starting on that date, because I am going to have my hands full with school. Hope you can relate.

The Fair is Over

This past week was the Teton County Fair. During this amusing event, I did parking (I got paid) for three days. Here at our fair we have rides (only like ten) everywhere from the ferris wheel, and merry-go-round to the Experience, and the Zipper. Stuff that is meant to make three year olds smile, to stuff that would make a 20 year old barf. Overall I think it is just a big money trap where you are sucked in to riding the rides and being overcharged for everything from food to tickets. It is also home to the rodeo and famous Demolition Derby, as well as the 4-H's horse show, rabbit show, cattle show, and many more. Personally I don't really like the fair and think everybody gets all hyped up over nothing at all.

Soak up the Sun

Sawyer :|

Boats n Stuff

Today I went boating (kayaking to be specific) on the Snake River with my mom. We started at the Jackson Lake dam where the river starts, and went down to the Pacific creek takeout. We got to the Oxbow (a calm area of water with islands everywhere) and decided to look around the islands and streams that run through it. We say a bunch of baby mergansers, and two Bald Eagles with two immature (not babies, but not adults) Bald Eagles eating what we thought was an elk carcass. We also saw two other immature eagles along the way sitting in trees. About twelve pelicans were gathered in a clearing with other small birds, and they looked very elegant. There were geese (along with there poop) everywhere. While we were exiting the Oxbow I had a Muskrat (a small rodent that swims and looks like a beaver but is much smaller and has a rat tail) come out of it's den. It swam right up to my boat and bumped it as it dove under and proceeded to the other side. After that we paddled down to the take out and my mom biked back to the put-in, got the car and drove it back. As we drove home my mom was paranoid that the pink kayak was going to fall off because it was moving a little in the wind. Even after stopping and tightening the straps three times, she still thought it was going to fall (it didn't). At 5:30 I refereed some more and made some more money. Some of the rooms even had lasers! What exactly they made there I wont go into detail, because it is very advanced. The bottom line is that they are making a new way of projecting that is very compact, and creates a super clear image. After that exciting event, I basically hung out all day (boring). I was sitting out side on the deck that night (getting eaten alive by mosquitoes) and I saw a really pretty sunset. It was orange and pink and red and purple. It was really beautiful, and it reminded me of a book I read in 8th grade this year. The book was called The Outsiders and it is about a kid who grows up in a gang like situation in the 1950's. It is a good book, but that is beside the point. In it, his friend points out that you can see a sunset no matter where you live and everyone looks at the same one (technically). I think its cool that people everywhere can all see the same thing. It makes the world seem much smaller and friendly. If we could all look at the things that we have in common rather than the things that are different about us we could all live in peace. I doubt it will happen soon because it is human nature to find the differences as apposed to the similarities, but some day maybe we could have world peace. Nobody really likes war (I hope) and it just makes people unhappy and destroys stuff so why can't we just stop.

Think about it

Sawyer >=|

Ya Gotta Love Puppies

Camping was a blast!!! We got there and played a board game, and then after the Koehlers got there, we went to the pool. I forget to mention the pool last time. This pool is feed from a natural source, a hot spring. The water is heated in the earths core (maybe not that far) and then it comes up to the surface as warm water. The water has tons of minerals and stuff in it and is said to be good for healing (although nobody has ever proved that true as far as I now). The water is really relaxing. Plus (as an added bonus) we saw practically all of my middle school teachers there, along with their like 8 kids. There were 4 of my teachers there and each one of them had about two kids. After that was over, we got back to camp and somebody (my mom) locked the keys in our car. Now I don't know if any of you have ever done this but boy is it a pain, especially when you are 60 miles from home. Luckily we were with friends and this afternoon they drove us back to Jackson so that my dad could get his car and drive my mom back to her car after getting a spare key. We also went with the Koehlers new golden doodle puppy, Jasper. He is a chick magnet and is funny when he does his puppy stuff (you know what I'm talking about). All weekend he followed my dog, Arco, around and copying him. He is trying to learn how to be a dog. That is pretty much all I have for now, and I will post pictures later.

Have Fun

Sawyer :)

Sleeping in the Wilderness

Also known as camping, and that is what I am going to be doing this weekend. For me its not new or anything because my family and I do it a lot but for some of you it might be. The great thing about it is that you can go almost anywhere. All you need is a sleeping bag, a pillow, a pad, and some food (along with a ten on rainy days). Of course we bring other stuff like chairs, and cooking supplies, but those are the basics. If you feel inspired after reading this (although you probably won't) to go camping, remember to make a fire, because the two best things about camping come from the ball of life. S'mores and random chatter. First off, S'mores are marshmallow (basically a ball of sugar), slowly roasted on a sharp stick over the fire, and then stuck in between two graham crackers, with some slightly melted chocolate. They are scrumptious, and if you can't make a fire, do it in the microwave (it won't blow up). I hope you figured out what what random chatter, but if you didn't, its just talking. Talking is necessary for human life to exist. The only reason we survived over the Neanderthals, or cave men, was that we talked and shared information on where good hunting spots were and how to make tools (thats from my 7th grade science teacher). Today talking is just as necessary, such as, theoretically, to get ourselves out of a world wide economic recession. If we needed to get out of that situation, we would need to talk and come to compromizes. Thats it for today, I don't have anything else after just spilling it all out on this page. I'll fill you in on how camping went when I get back.

Love Life

Sawyer :-|

Practice Makes You Almost Perfect

Soccer is a sport that can be enjoyed by all. Big, small, young, old, and everywhere in-between. It's fairly simple really. Kick the ball, maybe pass a couple of times and try to get the ball in the goal. It's that easy. Sure it gets more complex the more competitive you get, but the more competitive you get, the more you will practice, and the more you will get better. Life is all about practice. As they say, practice makes perfect, and I am a firm believer in that except for the fact that you can never be perfect. So lets say practice makes you almost perfect. Ya, I like that.

Practice

Sawyer :-/

Be Happy

Hi, everyone out there. I am going to Boundary Waters later this summer and it is going to be awesome. Boundary Waters is located up in Minnesota, and Canada, and is the canoeing paradise of life. I am going with my Boy Scout Troop, about 12 people, and we are driving up. We are going to be out on the water for a week, and driving for a week. Tonight, I'm headed up to Jenny lake (I think) to practice portaging, paddling, and swimming (I guess). It'll be fun no matter what, and thats all that matters (right). When we were there we saw many things including, the Washington Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Roosevelt Memorial, (all the memorials) the Smithsonian, and various other museums. I loved the Smithsonian, especially the Air and Space. All of the exhibits there were really cool, and they had this awesome flight simulator.
So, you got in this aircraft shaped thing, and then you heard a hissing as the hydraulics closed the door. You were strapped in as if you were riding on a roller coaster (you kind of were) and a screen was projected in front of you. I did it with my mom, and she was the gunner, while I was the pilot. Heres the best part, when you moved the joystick to move the plane, while trying to get a shot at an enemy, the contraption you were sitting in moved too. It was awesome. You went upside down and back and forth, most of the ride, just for fun, I put us upside down as we tried to shoot the enemy (my mom didn't like that too much, and I didn't get to go again).

The other exhibits were really cool too, like seeing the wright brothers plane and such. There was also the Natural History museum, were the Hope Diamond is (the biggest diamond on earth) and the famous giant whale hanging from the celling. We went to several art museums, the International Spy Museum, and the Newseum. That was a cool one, the Newseum. It is all about how news is made and how they get it out to people. They also had a 4-D movie about how it's made. Every day, they get the front page from the biggest newspaper in every state and country, and put them all out on display, so you can see what's going on in the world. They also have historic newspapers, and TV brodcasts you can look at such as the first man on the moon, and when FDR was shot. Last, they had this HUGE TV screen. I'm talking like a 100 foot screen. I watched the recent Spain vs. USA game on it and was disgusted when the US lost after a 2-0 lead at half time. After DC we went to Philidalphia, but that is another story, that I might tell later. Maybe.

Bye for now

Sawyer =0

Make Some Money

Today, wasn't all that exciting until, about 3:30, when things really picked up. At 3:45 I got my braces tightened and boy was that fun. After that I walked over to the soccer fields and refereed 6 and 7 year olds, and watched them attempt to play soccer (but fail miserably). But the good news is that I made money, just doing that for 2 hours. In fact I made $40. What a deal!!! I suggest you all get off your lazy butts and get a job. I shouldn't say that though because technically I don't really have a job, just a short term way of gaining money (not really a job, but close enough).

Thats all

Sawyer =$

Books

I just read a couple of great books and they are all in a series. The series is the Maximum ride series by James Patterson. They are really good books and you just can't stop reading once you start. There are 5 books in the series, so that you won't run out of reading material for a while, unless you think they're so good you can't stop and finish all of them in 2 weeks. I can't believe its finally here. It is so relaxing, plus I finally have time to do stuff, like update this blog. lol. I have a couple of camps this sumer. I just finished a soccer camp and it made me want to go out to the soccer fields everyday this summer (don't ask me why). Later in I have a trip with boy scouts where I am going to go to Minnesota and canoe in Boundary Waters. That is going to be really fun. Then I have one more soccer camp. The rest off the time I am just going to hang out with friends, eat, and sleep. I hope I grow this summer so that when I go into high school in the fall, I am at least 5 foot. Well thats about all I have in my head for the time being and I am going to go read Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie. Oh ya i almost forget to say that i am in the Teton County Library reading program. It's pretty cool, all you do is sign up and read and you get free prizes and stuff. Anyways, I am going to try to keep this blog up to date and update it often.

Bye

Sawyer 8)

I'm Back

Hi, its me, Sawyer.
